then it says i have an ipod none, will never be supported?? but this is not true, i know pictures can be put on this.

OK, so file->new, now it asks me to create the ipod folder mountpoint? what is that? where should it be? right now it’s in /usr/lib/gpixpod, with a “po” directory listed

should i use that? something else? ???

Is there any documentation on how to use this at all? Maybe I’m just really stupid but hwen I run it, i have no idea how to get pictures over to the ipod.

In the firstplace, gpixpod at the bottom says “please connect the ipod” even though it is connected.

if i click on the Open buttun underneath the file/edit/etc menu line, it just gives me a file browser, it seems to want some kind of ipod database. i click on ipod and go thru all its folder but gpixpod doesn’t find anything it likes

So i am stumped, and i could not find even themost basic tutorial. i need something that says: This is what you do the very first itme you run gpix pod”

if it helps I have a 80G video ipod, with music and movies installed on it. it has never been connected to anything but linux, and i have not used anything other than gtkpod to set t hings up on it.

Any hints or pointers, etc would be gratefully accepted. ifeel stupid beyond words that i cannot even play around with this and figure it out. i must be missing somethign obvious…

Hi redondos,
yup you are right actually there is a bug with the dialog for creating albums and symlinks when you launch gpixpod from the extracted directory without first installing it. A workaround is to make sure that the gpixpod icon is stored at the location /usr/share/gpixpod/GPixPod_icon.png. Of course this will be fixed with the upcoming 0.5.2 release.
Renaming albums is possible by double-clicking them!!! This could be considered an usability bug, and I should fix it as well.

Hi, Flavio, and thanks for this release. It has fixed my “iPod None” problem by letting me manually choose the model. I prefer the CLI tool, but there are a few other problems with the GUI:
- The dialog for creating new albums or new symlinks (are those symlinks or what) doesn’t respond to “OK” nor “Cancel”. The console doesn’t show anything when pressing the buttons, either.
- Suppose I have 5 pics in an album and delete picture #1. Then, clicking picture #4 (previously #5) shows the icon for the *old* 4th picture.
- Are you thinking on implementing album renaming capabilities?

OK Carlos it’s a bug. For the moment try adding a picture with the command line tool, this will create the /home/cmoffat/.gpixpod/sync file and then you could use the GUI normally.
I release 0.5.2 ASAP fixing it
Thanks for reporting the .deb package problems too. I will release 2 debs starting from 0.5.2, one for Ubuntu edgy and one for Debian Sid.

Hey!

Thanks for the good work. The .deb you have won’t install in Debian Sid. The python policy has changed, so now it should depend on python-gtk2 and python-glade2 instead of python2.4-gtk2, etc

I changed and installed gpixpod, but I couldn’t add any pictures:

for the moment there is a ready-to-install .exe file for version 0.4.0 available both on SF and Download.com.
I didn’t get the time yet to update to the last version. Probably I will with the next 0.5.2 release

Hi phlegm,
I have update my .deb package for edgy trying to get into it in universe.
For the moment, you could install some dependencies (python-support) getting them from edgy.
I will release a generic .deb shortly, suitable for Debian and Dapper, too
